Donor Affinity — data notice

How our prospect-research product for nonprofits is built, what it never does, and how to be removed from it. Posted September 11, 2026. The product is in development; no results have been delivered to any client.

What it is

Donor Affinity helps a nonprofit find people and foundations that already support institutions like it. It works from the public record of philanthropy: which foundations fund which organizations, who serves on which boards, and which gifts an institution has itself chosen to acknowledge in print. It ranks by demonstrated support of a cause, never by who someone is.

Where the information comes from

IRS Form 990, 990-EZ, and 990-PF filings as published by the Internal Revenue Service, including the officers, directors, and trustees an organization reports and the grants a private foundation reports paying. The IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File. Donor acknowledgments that an institution has published openly on its own website or in an annual report. County assessor records, where a client's research plan includes them. Every record in a result carries its source and date.

What we never collect or infer

We do not infer, record, or score anyone's religion, ethnicity, race, national origin, health, sexual orientation, or immigration status. We do not analyze names or surnames. We do not use location data or any record of visits to houses of worship, schools, or clinics. We do not use campaign-contribution records from the Federal Election Commission or from state and local election filings, which federal law excludes from fundraising use. We do not use voter registration data. A person appears in a result only because a public record, published by an institution or a government agency, documents their grant, board service, or acknowledged gift.

Who receives results

Only the nonprofit client who commissioned the research, under a license that limits use to that organization's own charitable solicitation and stewardship, forbids resale or sharing, and requires the client to honor opt-outs. A client's own donor records stay the client's; we use them only to serve that client and never combine them with another client's work.

Your choices

Anyone may ask to be excluded from all future Donor Affinity results, or to see and correct what a result says about them. Email sam@uptown11.com with the subject line “Donor Affinity removal”. We confirm within 10 days and honor the request in every result produced after that. Requests submitted through California's Data Broker Requests and Opt-out Platform are honored on the same terms if that platform ever applies to us.

Changes

If this notice changes materially, we post the update here and note it in every client deliverable. General platform privacy practices are in the privacy notice; the terms of use also apply.
