Uptown 11 Studios
Terms of use
For the Uptown 11 client platform — Client Studios, media dashboards, pitch intelligence, and the San Diego Power Map. Effective August 24, 2026.
The short version
- This platform is for your organization’s own work with Uptown 11 Studios.
- The license covers your office’s official work or your organization’s nonprofit work — campaign use needs its own license.
- Public-records data is for understanding and analysis — never for fundraising lists or going after individuals.
- Verify important facts before you publish, and tell us if something looks off. Some material is machine-assembled.
- Work in progress stays between us until it’s delivered.
1. What this covers. These terms apply to every client-facing part of the Uptown 11 Studios platform: your Client Studio (photos, video, analytics, requests), media coverage dashboards, pitch and research intelligence, and the San Diego Power Map. Access is for your organization's own research, communications, and advocacy work under your agreement with Uptown 11 Studios. If you have a login, it's personal — don't share credentials. If you reached this by link, keep the link inside your organization. The platform is in beta, and access right now is a free evaluation — the same limited trial we offer clients and prospective clients while they decide whether to license it (typically 30 days, unless we agree to extend). After the evaluation, continued access is by agreement with Uptown 11 Studios. Features may evolve, and we may adjust or wind down beta features as the product matures.
2. Organizations, not campaigns. Your license belongs to the organization named in your agreement with Uptown 11 Studios — the government office, nonprofit, or company we work with — and covers that organization's own official, educational, and charitable work. Political campaigns and ballot-measure committees are not licensed users: don't use the platform, its data, or anything derived from it for campaign purposes such as voter contact, electioneering, campaign strategy, or campaign fundraising. A campaign or committee that wants access needs its own separate written license from Uptown 11 Studios at fair market value. That holds during the free evaluation too — the trial is a standard offer we make to organizations considering a license, and campaigns and committees aren't eligible for it.
3. Your studio content. Photography, video, and other creative work in your studio is governed by your services agreement with Uptown 11 Studios — nothing here changes the rights you have there. Drafts, rough cuts, selects, and anything not yet delivered as final are shared for review only; please don't publish or circulate them outside your organization until they're delivered.
4. News and media content. Coverage dashboards collect headlines, short excerpts, and links so you can follow reporting about your organization. The articles belong to their publishers — read them at the source, and don't republish other outlets' work from here.
5. Campaign-finance data. Contribution and expenditure records come from public filings. Federal and California law restrict their use: you may not use contributor information for solicitation, fundraising, commercial mailing lists, or any commercial purpose beyond analysis (52 U.S.C. §30111(a); Cal. Gov. Code §84615, §81008).
6. No targeting or harassment. Research tools here exist to understand public power — institutions, officials, money, and influence. You may not use them to harass, threaten, stalk, dox, or target any individual, or to compile information about private individuals unconnected to public life.
7. Accuracy and machine assistance. Data is compiled from public records and cited sources, and some summaries, relationships, and analysis are machine-assembled. Everything is provided as-is; relationships shown are analytical inferences from the cited sources and may contain errors. Verify independently before acting on or publishing anything. To report an error, contact your Uptown 11 account manager and we'll review promptly.
8. No redistribution. Don't scrape, bulk-export, resell, or republish the platform's compilations or any data layer. The compilations and their structure are Uptown 11 Studios' work product; your access is a license, not a transfer.
9. Privacy and records. We collect what's needed to run the platform: login details if you have an account, usage needed for security, and a record of this acceptance (time, version, and technical details such as IP address). We don't sell this information or use it for anything beyond operating the platform and our work together. The details — including our service providers and how to reach us about your data — live in the privacy notice at /privacy.
10. The legal basics. The platform is provided as-is, without warranties, and Uptown 11 Studios' liability in connection with it is limited to the amount you paid for platform access. Access may be suspended or revoked for violation of these terms. These terms may be updated — you'll be asked to accept again when they change materially. California law governs.
